 GRIEF and LOSS:
Grieving after a loss is a natural human reaction, and can often be overwhelming. In our busy lives, many of us feel that we don’t have the proper “space” to grieve, or have feelings left unresolved. Individuals cope with loss and grief differently, but it must be processed or it sits within us and can lead to unhealthy patterns in our lives such as addiction, relationship problems, non-functionality in school or work, and insomnia. Deep unresolved grief can also lead to a downward spiral of sadness and depression.
Depression in itself is more than simply “feeling blue.” It impacts daily living and can include the experiences of sadness, lethargy, tearfulness, sleep disturbance, feelings of guilt or hopelessness, suicidal ideation, and a lack of pleasure in activities they were once enjoyable. Physical symptoms, such as chronic aches or bowel distress in addition to emotional distress may also be part of the constellation of symptoms.
Utilizing mixed modalities to tailor a program uniquely suited for each individual, and sometimes working in conjunction with their primary care physician, Joanna Leigh assists clients in overcoming their negative thought patterns and motivating themselves to create more positive interactions and a balanced, healthier lifestyle.
